gift

A new year often brings new possibilities and goals.  I’ve decided to define this year with just one single word.  I have known the feeling that I want to carry throughout 2012, but the word just hadn’t come to me yet. Until today…

gift

We are all unique and special.  Such as the way that we think.  Some people think in words, some people think in patterns, some people think in pictures.  We all have different traits…. different strengths and weaknesses.  Each and every one of us are different, but not less.  We each have a gift.  We each ARE a GIFT.

Allie - Well said, Lauren. I often tell my softball students that because they all do not “get it” the same way other students do. I have to work hard to give them different ideas, drills, words, verbals, articles, and pictures to help them. Everybody thinks differently… and I think it’s wonderful because it helps me think differently to- and that’s the best part! :-) Sometimes I learn more from them than they learn from me.

baking

whatever i do in the kitchen — he does.  he loves loves loves to bake and cook – anything and everything. regardless if he is going to eat it or not, he wants to participate in the project of preparing it.  from getting out everything we need… the bowls, spoons, ingredients, and even kitchen towels for clean-up… he wants to be a part.  and i let him.  because it makes him happy, he’s learning, and he’s really getting helpful.;)

i feel like i am so very behind on blogging, housework, everything… i’m just to the point where i’m not keeping up very well lately.
we have so much going on with these 2 houses, the holidays approaching, and then the normal day-to-day chores and routines… that i just wish time would slow down, or that there were more hours in the day — or something.
but since i cannot make that happen, i am trying to just be present in each and every moment… and not worry about the small stuff… and tackle one to-do item at a time.
not trying to complain, but you know — it’s just life. and i am so grateful for every single bit of it.

do what you can

grayson eating lunch

today around lunchtime, grayson went to the pantry and got out the vanilla wafers and peanut butter, went to the drawer and got a knife, and climbed up on the stool and sat at the island.  then he unscrewed the peanut butter and proceeded with making his vanilla wafers and peanut butter.  he didn’t need my help.;)

grayson grilling

Gratitudes*

On Wednesday of this week, many people around the world celebrated World Gratitude Day. There are so many things that we all sometimes overlook as being grateful for. What we should remember, however, is that there are many people who are not as fortunate to have some of the things in life that we have – even food and water.  It can sometimes be so easy to dwell on the negative things in life.  Instead, we should look around us…  because there is so much to be grateful for… if we know where to look.  So, I took some time today and did a little personal project… reminding myself of lots of little (and big) gratitudes…. and captured some of my gratitudes with my camera.
